CRG DOMINANT IN KZ2 AND KZ2 CUP OF DTM AT AMPFING
Jorrit Pex and Fabian Federer kept their dominant momentum in DKM at Ampfing in KZ2. They claimed the victory in the third round of the German series. Emilien Drenner confirmed his lead in KZ2 Cup taking a double win on Kalì-Kart.

The circuit of Ampfing (Germany) has staged the third round of the German Championship DKM and the verdict has been quite net as CRG has shown an overwhelming supremacy in KZ2 with the two wins going to Fabian Federer and Jorrit Pex. Emilien Denner also claimed an excellent result in KZ2 Cup on Kalì-Kart.KZ2. The victory in the first of the two finals in Ampfing in KZ2 went to Fabian Federer on CRG-Tm. Team SRP Racing’s color bearer also secured the pole position and won two heats. Federer won the first final leading CRG Holland’s Jorrit Pex, while his brother and team mate Stan Pex was fourth. CRG Holland’s Benjamin Tornqvist-Persson was also among the quickest ending sixth. CRG domination was confirmed in Race2 as the Italian outfit locked off the top 3. This time around Jorrit Pex won the race from Federer to his brother Stan. Tornqvist ended in the top ten in ninth place. Thanks to this result, six time DKM winner Jorrit Pex confirmed to be the leader of the championship at 148 points, but Federer closed in and is currently only one point shy of the lead. Stan Pex rounds off the CRG top 3 in KZ2, as he stands third at 110 points.

KZ2 CUP. CRG’s supremacy extended also to KZ2 Cup as Emilien Denner led to a fair and square win his Kalì-Kart chassis. Following the third place in qualifying and the pole position after heats, Denner unleashed all his speed in the two finals winning them both. CRG’s result in Race1 was completed by the second place secured by Patrick Kreutz on CRG-Tm run by team RS-Motorsport, and the third by Luka Kamali on CRG-Tm run by TB Racing Team. Thomas Neumann also run a good race ending fifth on CRG-Modena. Marvin Langenbacher of RS-Motorsport closed within the top ten for CRG in P7, leading CRG Holland’s Mark Potman. Denner repeated the victory in Race2 leading Kamali and Kreutz in another all-CRG podium. Langenbacher was sixth, Potman ninth. Denner incremented his lead on top of the classification reaching 178 points. He is currently followed by Mahler (DR-Kartshop Ampfing) at 119 points. Kamali is fourth at 79, Neumann fifth at 71.

CRG drivers used this race in Ampfing eying the CIK-FIA European Championship to be held next June 17th in OK and OK-Junior. Andrea Rosso had a strong Race2 in OK and closed his effort in P5 after a good comeback from the first final where he had been involved in an incident. Niels Troger of RTG Kartsport was fourth, Kas Haverkort seventh on Zanardi. Troger was seventh in final one, Haverkort 12th. Thompson is currently leading the classification at 154 points, Haverkort is third at 103 and Rosso eighth at 58.

The youngsters of CRG in OK-Junior struggled a bit more. Alfio Andrea Spina ended 19th, Tyler Maxson 22nd, Enzo Trulli 24th, while Enzo Scionti was forced to the retirement instead. Spina repeated the 19th place in race two, Trulli was 21st, Scionti 23rd, Maxson 24th. Xizhang Huang could not take part in the finals due the injuries sustained in the warm-up held on Sunday morning.

GREAT CRG WITH DE CONTO. THE 40th WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WON IN WACKERSDORF
Paolo De Conto secured the second KZ world title in a row on CRG-Tm in the World Championship held in Germany, 40th for CRG. CRG close to the big target also in KZ2 with Benjamin Tornqvist Persson in the International Super Cup.

The CIK-FIA KZ World Championship in Wackersdorf ended with another great win for CRG, that secured its 40th title with Paolo De Conto, who won his second world title in a row after, the one taken last year in Sweden, also on CRG-Tm.
In reality, CRG was very close to scoring another double win in Germany, as happened last year in Sweden, when Paolo De Conto was crowned 2016 KZ World Champion and Pedro Hiltbrand won with CRG the International KZ2 Super Cup. This time around, in Wackersdorf (Germany) another double win was at reach in KZ2 with the Dutch driver Benjamin Tornqvist Persson, who has been leading the Final until the last corner, but in this occasion CRG Holland’s driver had to settle for P2, as he was pipped by Alex Irlando in the sprint to the line.

CRG once again has been competitive and charging for the victory in both categories. Things went down to the wire in KZ2, while Paolo De Conto had the upper hand on his rivals recovering from P14 in qualifying, result that he had converted into P4 after the heats. De Conto therefore deservedly claimed another KZ World Championship, after winning the KZ European Championship in Kristianstad last July 30th. Amazing Paolo De Conto! He has been already crowned World Champion two times and European Champion three times.

In KZ, Jorrit Pex has also been shining in Wackersdorf completing a recovery up to the final fourth place, after holding a podium position for several laps. Stan Pex also run a strong race, ending eighth after an incident in the closing heat on Sunday morning penalized his starting position in the final. Andrea Dalè (Nuova 3M) also put in a solid performance ending 13th, while Flavio Camponeschi lost a few positions crossing the finish line in 16th position. Alessandro Giardelli run a strong race showing all his grit the first year in the category, ending the World Championship in 21st place. Macau’s driver Wing Chung Chang run a positive race ending 24th. Fabian Federer (SRP) has always been among the protagonists, but ended his Final on the first lap due to an incident with Lammers.

In KZ2, alongside the second place obtained by Benjamin Tornqvist Persson, CRG’s Fabrizio Rosati (SRP) ended within the top ten in P10. The Dutch driver Dylan Davies of CRG Keijzer Racing was 14th, CRG Holland’s Joey Hanssen 14th, Kay Van Berlo (CRG Keijzer) 22nd and Max Tubben (CRG Holland) 23rd due to a penalty. Some bad luck hit the two German drivers of CRG TB Racing Team Dominik Schmidt and Moritz Horn, that respectively ended 30th and 31st. The two Spanish drivers Gerard Cebrian Ariza and Enrico Prosperi, and the French Emilien Denner on Kalì Kart could not qualify for the Final instead.

An ecstatic Paolo De Conto commented his victory in KZ in this way: “This second KZ World Championship has been quite different from last year. This time around I did not put in a good lap in qualifying and I started heats from the fourth row. I had to take a lot of risks to get some ground back, but I managed to clinch the second row of the grid for the Final, a position that allowed me to fight for the win. We did an amazing job. I would like to thank CRG, starting from Giancarlo Tinini, the whole family and all the guys back at the factory, my mechanic Omar who did an exceptional work and, finally, my family and friends. This has been a difficult team victory, I also want to thank TM for the great job done that allowed us to be in front and take the win. This year CRG and I secured also the victory of the KZ European Championship, it has been a great season. I could not wish for more. Now we start working for the next season, aiming to score some other great results with CRG.”

CRG AND PAOLO DE CONTO CONFIRMED TO BE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS IN KZ IN SWEDEN
CRG drivers ended on a high the sixth and closing round of the European Champions that took place in Kristianstad. In KZ, Paolo De Conto was on the podium again. Sasse third in OK-Junior, Di Mauro second in KZ2 and Dennis Hauger great fourth in OK.

Some rain made the final stages of the European Championship even trickier in Sweden, as all categories – namely, KZ, KZ2, OK and OK-Junior, have been battling out the CIK-FIA Continental title. CRG colors eventually obtained very satisfying results.
The circuit of Kristianstad has staged the closer of the European Championship, after the rounds run in Sarno – Italy (KZ, OK, OK-Junior), in Genk – Belgium (KZ, KZ2), in Oviedo – Spain (KZ, OK, OK-Junior), in Le Mans – France (KZ2, OK, OK-Junior) and last week in Alahärmä – Finland (OK-OK-Junior).

DE CONTO KZ EUROPEAN CHAMPION AGAIN

KZ. Paolo De Conto has honoured at best the KZ title mathematically won in Le Mans on CRG-Tm. The Italian driver of CRG secured his second European Championship title after taking the KZ World Championship in Kristianstad in 2016. In Sweden, Paolo De Conto kicked off the weekend with a very last minute problem making him skip qualifying. In the heats he recovered well anyway, installing himself in a briliant fourth place. This has not been the first time during the season that De Conto had to start the Final from the second row of the grid. In fact that happened already in the first two rounds held in Sarno and Genk, where he managed to take the win anyway. In Kristianstad, a recovery was not that easy due also to the wet tarmac, but Paolo De Conto has put in a strong Final anyway, taking a third place in this occasion. Alongside the full haul in Sarno, Genk and Le Mans, the third place taken in Kristianstad confirmed CRG and Paolo De Conto as KZ European Champions in 2017.

Paolo De Conto’s comment at the end of the Final in Kristianstad: “I am very happy with this race because I came here with the title, just to drive without taking penalties which could have compromised the end result. I am happy because I drove on the wet and now we know we need to find something to be quicker. I want to congratulate with my rivals because I run an amazing race without errors but I did not have the speed to win. So congratulations to them and see you in Germany at Wackersdorf for the World Championship”.

In KZ, the two Pex brothers, that have been protagonist of the German DKM Championship in this season, have not been as competitive in Kristianstad: Jorrit Pex was fifth, while his brother Stan Pex had to retire 9 laps into the race.

SASSE THIRD IN OK-JUNIOR

OK-JUNIOR. In the OK-Junior Final, which was run on wet tarmac but without rain falling, the German of CRG TB Racing Team Hugo Sasse confirmed to be the most competitive of CRG drivers during this weekend in Sweden, ending right at the feet of the podium, a result that was later on converted into a P3 due to the penalty handed to Edgar. Sasse, after posting the best absolute time in qualifying and taking the fourth position after heats (a victory and two second places), ended the Final in fourth place, but was later on promoted to third, while the Dutch driver Kas Haverkort of CRG Keijzer Racing followed him. The Brazilian of CRG Gabriel Bortoleto was among the main protagonists of the heats and he managed to install himself in P12 early on in the Final, but then had to concede some positions to end his race in 16th place. Eventually, he was handed a 10s time penalty that relegated him to P20. The Spanish driver Francisco Sagrera was 15th, while Luca Giardelli did not manage to qualify for the Final despite a positive 10th place in the closing qualifying heat, as happened to Donar Munding, Mathias Torreggiani and Davids Trefilovs of SRP Racing Team.

The OK-Junior Final was won by Jack Doohan, while the Championship was won by the British driver Jonny Edgar, who was fourth following a 10s time penalty.

STRONG PERFORMANCE BY DI MAURO, SECOND IN KZ2

KZ2. The Swedish driver of CRG Holland Benjamin Tornqvist had been the quickest of the CRG lot ahead of the KZ2 Final, but he lost 15 positions at the start. The Brazilian Gaetano Di Mauro, managed to recover a lot of positions at the getaway on CRG-Tm instead. He had been previously protagonist of the qualifying stages on the humid tarmac, recovering up to P2 from the starting P14 thanks to some very effective driving. Max Tubben of CRG Holland has also been among the quickest of the Final putting in a stunning recovery from P30, as the Spanish Gerard Cebrian Ariza who started 22nd. At the flag, Gaetano Di Mauro claimed an excellent P2, taking the third podium for CRG in Kristianstad. The young Max Tubben took a very good fourth place. Benjamin Tornqvist eventually recovered up to P11, but was later on relegated to P13 by a penalty. Gerard Cebrian Ariza was 17th. The other Spanish driver of CRG Enrico Prosperi was out of the Final by a whisker, as happened to the Finn Petteri Ruotsalainen and Alessandro Giardelli, the latter despite a good qualifying.

DENNIS HAUGER PROTAGONIST OF OK AGAIN

OK. The closing OK Final was run on a nearly dry circuit and the young Norwegian of CRG Dennis Hauger has been stunning since the start, one of the strongest protagonists despite being in his maiden year following last year’s OK-Junior campaign. Hauger has joined the battle for the lead, taking also P1 for a while, but eventually he slipped down to third until when 7 laps were left to go, when he was overtaken by Travisanutto and closed his effort in P4.
The British 2016 Academy Champion of CRG Callum Bradshaw was sixth recovering some solid 9 positions posting also the fastest lap of the race. CRG Keijzer Racing’s Glenn Van Berlo was 12th leading the German Hannes Janker. The Spanish driver Kilian Meyer ended 20th at the end of a good recovery from the back of the starting grid.

CRG had a great start of the DKM in Germany at the circuit of Ampfing dominating KZ and scoring great results also in OK and OK-Junior.

The round of Ampfing has been the opener of DKM and CRG has been protagonist once again with its drivers, after last year’s very successful campaign in which the Italian make secured the title in all categories.
CRG kept its momentum in Ampfing especially in KZ winning Race-1 with Flavio Camponeschi as CRG chassis locked out the podium, and Race-2 with Stan Pex, as five CRG chassis completed the top five. This was an absolute dominant run.

CRG, CLEAR DOMINATION IN KZ

Flavio Camponeschi, back to KZ for the occasion with CRG Deutschland Rutsch & Herpich GbR, has been shining with the win qualifying heats and claiming an authoritative victory in Race-1 leading Jorrit Pex and Fabian Federer, while last year’s winner of the KZ2 Cup Max Tubben, closed his effort in P5. Alexander Schmitz and Stan Pex were also among the quickest of Race-1, ending respectively seventh and ninth for CRG Holland. Among the emerging talents, Alessandro Giardelli posted a great time in qualifying, posting tenth quickest laptime just one tenth off pole sitter Fabian Federer, but in Race-1 Giardelli has been forced to the retirement due to a contact early into the race. Mirko Torsellini had some problems and was 25th in qualifying and 18th in Race-1.

Flavio Camponeschi’s comment after Race-1: “I am really happy about the result of race one. A really good race, I did not make mistakes. It was really hard as the others were very close behind me and there was no room for error. I just focused on the race, I kept concentration high in every single corner. This championship is very competitive and I am happy for the result. It was a great team effort.”

The second final saw Stan Pex coming to the fore dominating Race-2 after a recovery run started from P9, but Flavio Camponeschi has also been superb after a contact with Daniel Stell early on. Camponeschi lost a few places but then made up for the lost time climbing back to P3, engaging a battle for second with Jorrit Pex. CRG colors monopolized the five-places podium of DKM with Stan Pex, Jorrit Pex, Camponeschi, Federer and Schmitz closing in the order. Tubben finished in the top ten in eighth place, Toni Tschentscher was ninth with SRP racing Team. Giardelli has been quick and aggressive recovering 14 places to the 18th final place, Torsellini was still affected by some technical issues and ended 20th.

Stan Pex’s comment: “We did a good job in Race-2, while everybody chose to put on new tyres in the first final I went for the old ones. We won Race-2, so I think it was a good choice. I had a good start from P9, I got some positions back and then I passed the others, built a bit of a gap and it was easier in the end. I am happy for my brother Jorrit, he also run a good race, and scored some good points with two second places, but I am happier for my win! It was good racing especially in the front, high level, a lot of fans. We are very happy about this first race of DKM.”

In KZ2 Cup, the Dutch driver of CRG Holland Jeroen Bos was third in Race-1, while Luka Kamali and SRP Racing Team claimed P3 in the second race.

MEYER VERY QUICK IN OK

The young Spanish driver Kilian Meyer of CRG Holland has been under the spotlight in OK, taking a stunning pole position and showing a good confidence in his first season in this category. Among CRG drivers, the Dutch Glenn Van Berlo of CRG Keijzer Racing Team has been the best taking the second place leading team mate Luca Maisch, while Meyer closed his effort in P4. DKM 2016 Junior title winner Dennis Hauger was eventually seventh. He won the race leading the runner up by more than 2 seconds, but was then handed a 5s time penalty due to the front fairing dropped at the start from P10. Meyer confirmed to be among the quickest in Race-2 ending fourth, leading CRG TB Racing Team’s Tim Troger and Hauger. Maisch was eighth instead.

SASSE THE BEST OF CRG DRIVERS IN OK-JUNIOR

Following the pole position set by Fabian Federer in KZ and that of Kilian Meyer in OK, CRG has claimed another pole position in OK-Junior with the German of CRG TB Racing Team Hugo Sasse. Sasse confirmed his speed also in the heats and later on ended Race-1 in second place, as team mate Niels Troger was fourth and RL-Competition’s Marius Zug fifth. Sasse claimed a fourth place in Race-2 leading Troger and Zug, while Pietro Delli Guanti was seventh in Race-2 at the debut with the CRG colors of team CRG Keijzer, leading the Spanish driver Donar Nils Munding of Kalì-Kart Stern Motorsport. Luca Giardelli was twentieth instead in Race-1 and twenty-seventh in Race-2.

STUNNING CRG IN KERPEN! 4 OUT OF 4 TITLES IN DKM
CRG claimed all available titles in the closing stage of the German Championship DKM. Jorrit Pex victorious in KZ2, Max Tubben in KZ2 Cup, Paavo Tonteri in OK and Dennis Hauger in OK Junior.

CRG obtained an exceptional result at the German Championship DKM, that is the most competitive National Championship in Europe thanks to the presence of works teams. CRG won all 4 titles that were up for grabs, a stunning and unprecedented result!

The final round of DKM held in Kerpen awarded the KZ2 title to Jorrit Pex on CRG-Tm (CRG Holland), as Max Tubben obtained the in KZ2 Cup’s title on CRG-Tm (CRG Holland), while Paavo Tonteri on CRG-Parilla (CRG TB Racing Team) had already been in OK Champion since the race of Oschersleben, and Dennis Hauger was crowned OK Junior Champion on CRG-Parilla (CRG Holland).

The competitiveness of CRG chassis has been highlighted in this season finale on all the racing fields, starting from the KZ World Championship won by Paolo De Conto (CRG-Tm) in Sweden, the International CIK-FIA KZ2 title claimed by Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG-Maxter), who also won the Spanish Championship and the European OK Championship in Belgium on CRG-Parilla and the KZ2 European Championship won by Fabian Federer (CRG-Modena) in Belgium.

The Circuit of Kerpen witnessed the crushing finale put in by CRG drivers, that had taken the lead of DKM since the previous round of Oschersleben, before keeping their momentum and securing the titles in the closing round of the season.

FIFTH TITLE FOR JORRIT PEX (CRG-TM) IN KZ2

The Dutch driver Jorrit Pex built his KZ2 victory in Kerpen in a wise Final one, where he secured a fourth place that granted him the necessary points to claim his fifth DKM title after those won in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, always on CRG. The first final was won by Jorrit’s brother Stan Pex, also on CRG and, as Jorrit, back to using a Tm engine unit. Jorrit Pex was then sent off track in Race-2 when racing among the pace setters, but the title was already firmly in his hands. Stan Pex took another podium in P3 in this second Final. Among CRG drivers, the Dutch driver Bent Viscaal ended in Race-1’s top ten in seventh place, while the Dutch Joey Hanssen was eighth in Race-2 and the Swede Benjamin Tornqvist was ninth.

TUBBEN KZ2 CUP CHAMPION (CRG-TM)

In KZ2 Cup, the new category reserved to emerging drivers that have not already obtained strong results in DKM or International races, the young and brilliant driver of CRG Holland Max Tubben came to the fore on CRG-Tm, winning the title with a big margin to his rivals. Tubben won Final one, and then ended Race-2 in second place. These results, alongside the previous four wins in Wackersdorf and Oschersleben gave him the Championship lead ahead of team mate Symen Wiggers. A good performance in Race-1 was also put in by other CRG drivers, like the Dutch Jeroen Bos who was fourth, Symen Wiggers who followed him in fifth and the Swede Andreas Johansson ending eighth. Wiggers was ninth in Race-2 leading team mate Mark Potman.

PAAVO TONTERI (CRG-PARILLA) TAKING OK TITLE

The OK title was already firmly in Paavo Tonteri’s hands on CRG-Parilla run by CRG TB Racing. Despite this, the Finn Tonteri did not miss the chance to fight for the victory in the first final, eventually settling for P4, followed at the flag by team mate Tim Troger, who has recently won the German ADAC title. Tonteri had to give up at Race-2’s turn one due to an incident instead. The other two German drivers of CRG TB Racing Team, Luca Lippkau and Nermin Colakovic came to the fore in the second final, taking respectively the fifth and sixth place.

DENNIS HAUGER (CRG-PARILLA) VICTORIOUS IN OK JUNIOR

The young Norwegian of CRG Holland Dennis Hauger on CRG-Parilla has been very strong in Kerpen, running a perfect weekend that earned him the OK Junior title. Hauger – who comes from 60 Mini and is at his first season in Junior – has been stunning, taking a deserved maiden title in this category showing a great growth throughout the season. Hauger got to Kerpen as classification leader after the victory and third place secured in Oschersleben, but the classification was still wide open ahead of the final round. Hauger ended Race-1 in second place, behind team mate Kas Hoverkort on CRG-Tm run by CRG Keijzer Racing Team, but he got full haul as Hoverkort was transparent to the classification. Hauger secured another second place in Race-2, a result that confirmed his classification lead. Haverkort was again on the podium in P3. Among the fastest on CRG, Patricija Stalidzane of RL-Competition was sixth in Race-1, while Luca Maisch (Junior ADAC Champion) of CRG TB Racing Team was ninth. Lorenzo Ferrari took a good 13th place, and Niels Troger the 14th. Troger ended Race-2 in P8, while Renzo Alibaks was 14th and Marius Zug 15th.
